The Problem
Industrial manufacturing environments often run on legacy Operational Technology (OT) systems that were never designed to integrate with modern cloud platforms.
As a result:
- Machine and sensor data remained locked inside factory hardware
- OT systems could not communicate with enterprise IT platforms
- Real-time monitoring and predictive analytics were impossible
- Network latency and security concerns prevented cloud integration
This created a significant barrier to Industry 4.0 adoption, where data-driven automation and AI require continuous access to operational data.
The Solution
I architected a secure IT/OT bridge using Private 5G connectivity and Azure cloud services to enable real-time industrial data flow from factory systems to cloud intelligence platforms.
The architecture combined:
- Private 5G connectivity for secure low-latency industrial networking
- Edge computing for local data processing
- Cloud ingestion using Azure IoT Hub
- Cloud analytics and AI models
- Foundation for Digital Twin modelling using Azure Digital Twins
This architecture enabled a unified industrial data pipeline, allowing factory data to power cloud-based insights and automation.
